Danny Thompson and Bob Bower return to Baja, joining Reid Rutherford & the Fines Double Racing team at the 2011 SCORE Baja 1000 The Fines Double Racing Team is on a roll, charging forward harder than ever after coming off of last year's class points championship, and then winning the recent San Felipe Challenge of Champions in the its Class 7-2 Mason Pro Runner - equipped with BFGoodrich Tires and FOX Racing Shox. Never wanting to be outdone, Fines Double Racing Team owner, Reid Rutherford, has recruited new talent in a continued effort to clinch another win at this year's famed Baja 1000. "The Fine's Double Racing Team name is synonymous with top-notch drivers and an excellent chase support and logistics crew. We are really excited to be adding these two guys to our race roster, as both have the winning spirit and 'never say quit' attitude that the Fines Double Racing Team demands. Their race resumes speak for themselves," said Rutherford with a very confident grin. Danny Thompson Often used in the automotive industry to describe competition proven race components, the term "race-bred" exemplifies the man that is Danny Thompson. The son of legendary racer and tire manufacturer, Mickey Thompson, has logged more race miles than most when it comes to racing Baja. Thompson is a former member of the BFGoodrich/Ford Rough Riders Off-Road Racing Team. He also raced the SCORE series as a racer for Factory Chevy. More recently, Thompson made Bonneville racing history driving an E85-powered Ford Mustang to a new land speed record title. Thompson is looking forward to his return to Baja Racing with the Fines Double Racing Team. Bob Bower Having come from a Corvette racing background, Bower got his first off-road ride in Bob Gordon's Chenoweth Class 2 car in 1977, and was immediately hooked. In 1982, Bower took over the management of the BFGoodrich off-road racing program for a short stint, but soon let his passion as a "right seat guy" take over. He's been the co-driver for a long list of drivers; Robby Gordon, Ivan Stewart, Mike Doherty, Rod Hall... to name just a few. His list of racing accomplishments includes entry into more than twenty Baja 1000 races, numerous championships and several overall race finishes. "I believe wins come from purposeful planning, solid preparation and keeping your wits about you between flags," claims Bower. "You don't have to go faster to win, you have to go less slow. Slow is fast and fast is slow. When two guys work together, two guys win, and have fun. I like fun, and I'm looking forward to having the right kind of fun with Danny Thompson this year.
